Upcoming Training Classes

CSC partners with the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of the Carolinas to offer group training courses here in the Upstate of South Carolina. Here’s what we have coming up over the next couple of months. (To register, or for more information, just give us a call at 864.905.7835.)

April 17 — Trenching & Excavation Competent Person Training

The Trenching and Excavation Competent Person course is designed to provide students with an understanding of applicable OSHA Standards, an introduction to protective system design and selection, and the technical education component of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Competent Person requirements.

The course is built around the ability to recognize existing and predictable hazards in and around the excavation and appropriate corrective measures. The class also covers the following topics:

  • OSHA Excavation Standard
  • Soil Mechanics and Soil Analysis
  • Protective System Planning and Selection
  • Job Planning Related to Trench Safety
  • Competent Person Responsibilities

The class is designed to benefit employees at all levels of an organization including senior management, safety professionals, project managers, project estimators, project superintendents, project foremen and laborers engaged in projects related to the excavation standard.

June 16-19 — OSHA 10/30 Hour Classes

The OHSA 10-Hour class results in a valid DOL/OSHA 10-Hour Card. It teaches recognition, avoidance, abatement and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces. IT ensures that workers are more knowledgeable about workplace hazards and their rights, as well as productivity techniques. The OSHA 10-hour class is intended for entry level workers.

The OSHA 30-Hour class is designed for construction foremen, superintendents and engineers, safety professionals, construction managers, plant engineers, construction inspectors and any other personnel responsible for workplace safety. In addition to covering the same topics as the 10-Hour Construction Courses, the 30-Hour course covers OSHA Standards, OSHA Act, OSHA Record-keeping, Multi-Employer Worksite Issues, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Personal Protective Equipment, Fire Protection and Prevention, Material Handling, Storage, Use, Disposal, Hand and Power Tools, Welding & Cutting, Scaffolding, Fall Protection, Cranes/Derricks, as well as other topics. This course finishes with an OSHA 30-Hour Card.
